Partnership Foundation Stage Unit (PFSU)

The PFSU accommodates children from age 3 to 5 and is run jointly by Kirtlington CE School and Kirtlington Pre School.

The Unit has excellent facilities both within the classroom and in the fenced off outside play area where children can explore their environment through safe and structured play.

Kirtlington Pre School is a registered charity and is run by a committee of parents.  The current chair is Kitty Cox.

The committee is responsible for the management of the pre school, fundraising and meeting the requirements of OFSTED.  (New members are always welcome.)

The latest OFSTED inspection report can be downloaded here pre school ofsted.pdf

Kirtlington Partnership Foundation Stage Unit (PFSU) is the umbrella name for the provision of high quality education and care for the children in the Foundation Stage (ie, children of 3 – 5 years old).  The Unit is run as a partnership between Kirtlington School and Kirtlington Pre-School.

The F1’s (formerly reception) are on the school roll and funding for them comes from the LEA.  The F2’s and F3’s are on the Pre-School roll and their funding comes from the Early Years.

It works as a whole with the children being taught and treated as part of the whole Unit rather than separately as School and Pr-School.  Distinction between the two elements is only made with regard to funding, fees and admissions.

The working title on a day to day basis is Kirtlington P.F.S.U.  This refers to the Unit as a whole.  The term ‘Pre-School’ will only be applied to F2 and F3 children where applicable.
